As I assembled it, they immediately went inside the donut and even enjoyed sitting in the middle hole on top, which they found comfortable. There was no noticeable smell right out of the package. It was easy to put together, with a zipper that goes around it- up to the entrance to the cave. The design is versatile; you can leave it open, they like lounging in it, and playing in it by using a cat wand. Watching them crawl sideways around in circles is entertaining!

I was amazed by the reaction of my cat, within 5 minutes she was exploring the inside of the cave; normally it takes days or even weeks before she will normally approach anything new. She's a larger cat and she easily fits inside. I highly recommend this cat cave.
